Wellington Barracks, Westminster, close to Buckingham Palace, is home to The Foot Guards Battalions on public duties in London, to all of the Foot Guards bands and all the Regimental Headquarters.
F Company, Scots Guards and The 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards are based at Wellington Barracks.
The Guards Museum, at Wellington Barracks, contains a wealth of information and artefacts relating to the five regiments of Foot Guards namely Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards. These regiments, along with the two regiments of Household Cavalry, make up Her Majesty’s Household Division and guard The Sovereign and the Royal Palaces.
The Royal Military Chapel, St. James Park, known as the Guards Chapel, is the religious home of the Household Division at Wellington Barracks. Built in 1838, the chapel was bombed during the Blitz in 1940/1941 and again in 1944. The chapel was rebuilt in a modern style in the 1960s. Services are normally at 11:00 hours and 12:00 hour on Sundays. Members of the public are welcome. Tel: 020-7414-3228.
