Walking, Hiking and Outdoor Shops

Cotswold Outdoor London - Holborn

311-318 High Holborn, London WC1V 7BN, UK – 020 7831 9957

Great experience here. A proactive and helpful lady in the lower floor gave me and another customer top advice on the best boots to wear for our respective trips. The boots I wanted weren't available in my size but rest assured they arrived the next day. I suggest trying out any boots on the mini ramp they have by the mirror - good way to test their comfort.

Just had a great shopping experience here. Walking boots bought almost a year ago changed due to manufacturer's fault without any issues. Staff excellent: informative and understanding. Always enjoy shopping at Cotswold. Highly recommend

Cotswold Outdoor London - Piccadilly

23/26 Piccadilly, Mayfair, London W1J 0DJ, UK – 020 7437 7399

extremely helpful service with no pressure and good expertise. Good range of products and fair prices too.

Quality price ratio really hight. A lot of good products at decent prices. Definitely a great compromise if you're not looking for high techy sportswear

Cotswold Outdoor London - Covent Garden

8 Southampton St, London WC2E 7HA, UK – 020 7379 3060

When they are good they are very very good, but when they are bad I go to Ellis Brigham (almost next-door) instead. Variable levels of customer advice/service. Probably depends on how busy they are, or who you get. They have lost a lot of business from me by not giving me enough attention. Their loss is Ellis Brigham's gain.

The staff are either really passionate and a bit OTT with the detail or seem sleepy and disinterested. The shop itself has a decent amount of outdoor gear tho it seems like it could be better laid out as the bags are almost hidden away and the women's/men's clothing blends into one.

WalkingWorld.jpg
Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the country. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks..

Camping and Caravaning

Mountain Warehouse

3 Southampton St, London WC2E 7HA, UK – 020 7379 1414

Went there with a friend who needed a new backpack. The staff at the counter were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Explaining, in detail, all of the bags many pockets/pouches/features. They also explained how to adjust and fit the bag properly and how to releave weight on certain areas. From what I was expecting (for a shop in central London) they went well above and beyond. It really shows these guys not only enjoy their work but also are interested in the great outdoors.

It has a lot of things for excursions and very good deals can be found

YHA London Oxford Street

14 Noel St, Soho, London W1F 8GJ, UK – 0345 371 9133

Great location, right in the center of really good restaurents and bar. The wifi is inly available in the lobby. The shower is really good! A little bit loud at night (We where on the street side of the Hostel). Staff was not really useful when we arrived. Ask questions, because they are not 'welcoming'.

Nice cost/ benefit! The hostel is beautiful, very clean, with an amazing location and is still one of the cheapest. I truly recommend it!

YHA London St Pauls

36 Carter Ln, London EC4V 5AB, UK – 0345 371 9012

Perfect central location near to public transport and good restaurants (try jo's kitchen😊) would've been 5 star save the bells at St Pauls...that bong every hour...all through the night😂

YHA St. Paul's is nice from the outside but it has rooms.... that look nothing like on the website. I was quite shocked. The room is just the size of the bed?!! (Double bed room) I think for that price I could get something with enough space to fit my suitcase in. Now me and my friend have to open our suitcases by putting them on the bed. No space to unpack anything. Also I was not impressed by the shower. I don't have Klaustrophobia but in that shower I get klaustrophobic. +++ ONE STAR because of the staff. Everyone is really really nice, even if they could not help us with our room. The breakfast is okay. THE COFFEE IS VERY GOOD. I'm from Germany. Coffee is my religion. +++ another star because they have a good service where they help you with tickets and they even book and print them for you.

Dog People is such a great website if you have dogs who go on holiday with you. Just enter your location and everything from dog friendly Bed and Breakfasts and Hotels to dog friendly walks and beaches come up. The Dog People site covers Bed & Breakfast, Holiday Parks, Hotels, Self Catering, Pubs & Food, Days Out. Enjoy!
