Banks

PNB (Europe)

238 Vauxhall Bridge Rd, Westminster, London SW1V 1AU, UK – 020 7233 6311

The que is still long on the weekend but the new bank is a great improvement on the old location. There is much more room inside and it is a lot brighter.

NatWest Bank

208 Piccadilly, St. James's, London W1J 9HE, UK – 0345 788 8444

This is the best branch of Natwest I've been in, it's never that busy, the air conditioning is good and they have copies of Timeout to read. Also, you get a printed ticket like in Argos or the deli counter, this lets you sit down and chill out rather than standing in a queue feeling angry (but I should still do all my banking at home)

They should update their opening hours online as the branch closes at 5pm everyday, not 6pm. Was slightly frustrating turning up at 515pm to see the bank closed :-/

Lloyds Bank

185 Baker St, Marylebone, London NW1 6XB, UK – 0345 300 0000

Great place to spend a bank holiday weekend. You can even visit the vault if you enter from 3 doors up Baker Street with some spades and dynamite!! Loads of jewels and cash laying around, not to mention some saucy pictures and a lovely diary of secrets. Best tip, avoid using walkie talkies.

excellent

Its not a busy branch, although it is small.

Nationwide

46 Portman Square, Marylebone, London W1H 6LZ, UK – 0800 554 1291

They are very friendly.and good service with customer.

Local Chambers of Commerce for SW1E 6HQ. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!
London Councils

59½ Southwark St, London SE1 0AL, UK – 020 7934 9999

What a great website. Informative. Not so much for self interest but for the good of the whole of London. Take the picture of a Table. Some look at things at table level but what is under the table

I neil kandiah let RUS Building Servicesl landscape my garden and he did my garden an amazing job in just 3 days for very fair price.

Dental Surgeries

Dentistry 100

64-65 Long Ln, London EC1A 9EJ, UK – 020 7638 7100

This place is a real gem. Dr Parkman is the friendliest dentist I think I've ever had, and the kids all get on really well with him too. The surgery is clean, funky, and they play great tunes. Have recommended him it to several of my friends and they all love him too!!!

Mint Dental Centre

41 Clapham Rd, London SW9 0JD, UK – 020 7587 0100

Have been going to Mint dental for years. Always had great service, friendly dentists and top quality dental work. Finding a good dentist can be difficult in London. This place was recommended to myself & I often let others know about them too. I would highly recommend!

I've used several NHS dentists in the area and this has been the best. Consistently good, careful service. Treatments have always been effective and the service always friendly and encouraging. Waiting time for appointments relatively short. Few of us like visiting the dentist but I have not regretted coming here.

South Bank Dentists

Riverside Building, Westminster Bridge Rd, Lambeth, London SE1 7PB, UK – 020 7183 3558

Excellent dental care in calm surroundings. The whole team are very caring and thorough. I would definitely recommend this dental practice.

When it comes to tooth pain, you quickly understand your teeth are Alive and Kicking. Yes I'm that old. A couple of root canals, gold teeth, the standard ones, and some fillings. This gives you a little overview of my exposure to the dentist professional body. Well, I never met any practice who looked so carefully and efficiently to my dental health. Bravo to the all team! And if you really don't want to go to Southbank Dentists for its high quality service, then go for it for its location: superbly situated in the County Hall, next to Big Ben, of course! Looking over your shoulders to see if you're still there, hahaha :)

London Doctors Clinic

St. Thomas' Hospital

Westminster Bridge Rd, Lambeth, London SE1 7EH, UK – 020 7188 7188

This, although sounds odd, was my best experience on an Emergency Department. When I arrived, I was visibly distressed. The lady who was on reception was lovely and immediately got the Sister on duty who ushered me to a room so I could have some privacy. The Psych Liaison was brilliant and got me a bed on a ward really quickly. My experience on Evan Jones ward was just as positive.

I had a great experience at the A&E after a sporting injury. All the staff I came into contact with were attentive, kind, calm, helpful and funny (the doctor particularly). I was in and out in 3 hours (with cast and sling) and can't fault any of it. Excellent ad for the NHS.

The Lister Hospital

Chelsea Bridge Rd, London SW1W 8RH, UK – 020 7730 7733

I enjoyed my stay! Best Doctors and nurses and clean and friendly environment. I felt like a king money well paid for! I will always go for a private hospital treatment and care Listers Hospital Chelsea Bridge Road, London.

Great hospital - excellent consultants and was seen and scanned the day I phoned for an appointment!

The Princess Grace Hospital

42-52 Nottingham Pl, Marylebone, London W1U 5NY, UK – 020 7486 1234

Had surgery last month and stayed at the hospital for four nights. All the doctors, nurses and hospital staff were very professional and helpful; nothing was too much trouble. A difficult time was made much easier with their support. I would recommend The Princess Grace Hospital to others.

Great service at the paid urgent care unit.

Local hospitals - community hospitals and hospitals with A&E departments for SW1E 6HQ.

The new NHS website below is very well worth a look. Hospitals are not only listed but evaluated. I certainly know which ones I would go to! At the very least you will know what questions to ask if you are sent to one which has not entered its data. Good luck!

Find Local Churches & Places of Worship

Euston Church

Church of Christ The King, Gordon Square, Bloomsbury, London WC1H 0AG, UK

Originally Irving's church now consists of English chapel related to Forward in Faith which is usually open and the main church which is open during service time only. It is good to go and pray at the small but very beautiful church anytime.

A small church neighboring the UCL main campus. Has that old small church feel

St Giles-in-the-Fields

60 St Giles High St, London WC2H 8LG, UK – 020 7240 2532

Visited at around the evening, and is possibly missed any visiting events. The church is great and there's a little park and garden at the back. It's nice and quiet, comparing to the feeling of tired walking around the noise busy streets around the area. Maybe I should research for some fact about the church before writing this guide. I did have a good time spending few minutes sitting there.

There is famous century old High school in South India named after Dudley. Here is a monument.

Chelsea Community Baptist Church

The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Buckingham Gate

Sartori Restaurant & Pizzeria

15 Great Newport St, London WC2H 7JE, UK – 020 7836 6308

Great food. Authentic taste. Pizzas are amazing. Staff are friendly and welcoming. All round brilliant restaurant!

Friendly staff. Nice food. Basement a little dark. Sadly we asked for child's.portion of plain spaghetti, received a bowl my daughter would deed from for a week and were charged initially £6.95. when I voiced my concern they reduced it by £2! Still steep.

Govinda's Pure Vegetarian Restaurant

10 Soho St, Soho, London W1D 3DL, UK – 020 7437 3662

I had the vegan thali. It tasted like being back in India. Such satisfying, nourishing tasty food. Very reasonably priced too, £7.50 for the thali.

Cheap but tasteful - filled with locals so you know it's good and good value. We even saw a gentleman treat a homeless person to a hot meal - great to see! Try the tasting platter to get a sense of everything.

East Street Restaurant

3-5 Rathbone Pl, Fitzrovia, London W1T 1HJ, UK – 020 7323 0860

Nice range of South East Asian dishes cooked well with good flavour. Unfortunately it's not completely authentic and can be pricey. However it's a great place for drinks and small plates to go with it.

By far one of my favourite places. Food is good and not too expensive. Service is pretty quick and you'll always find seats

Nursery and Preschools

MACE Montessori Nursery School

38-42 Millman St, London WC1N 3EW, UK – 020 7242 5842

Miss Chris-Jayne and her team at the nursery was nothing but professional and welcoming. I felt at ease allowing my son to participate in their classroom activities. The teachers were warm and welcoming, where I found the children interacting and having such a wonderful time. Clearly, a lot of hard work and thought in this bright and colourful nursery is carried out to ensure the best possible environment for our children to be nurtured at such a crucial learning age. I thoroughly recommend to all!

Very happy with my sons progress at the nursery, the teachers have done a great job with him, he is very independent, well behaved and very sociable since he started the nursery. I am very appreciative to the teachers for the progress he has shown. When I pick him up at 6pm I can see he has had a great playful day as when we go home all he wants to do is rest and sleep. Highly recommend it.

I used to be a student there, in 2010-2011 and I've gotta say one of the best moments of my life were at ICS! Miss it a lot...

The best academic and personal training to succeed in a complex world. As an academic and mother of two, I recommend ICS as the best option for international students.

Public & Preparatory Schools

City of London School for Girls

City of London School for Girls, St Giles Terrace, Barbican, London EC2Y 8BB, UK – 020 7847 5500

My daughter currently attends but has been very unwell with a long term condition. The way the staff have consistently "gone the extra mile" for her and us shows a level of care that is exceptional. As a parent that is the most important thing and I would happily recommend the school to anyone considering sending their daughter there.

City of London School for Girls is a non-denominational, independent day school, for girls aged 7 to 18, based in the London Square Mile. The School was established by the Corporation of the City of London with money from a bequest from William Ward of Brixton to provide education for girls that “would correspond, as near as may be, to the City of London School”. The school opened in Carmelite Street in 1894 and moved to the present premises in the Barbican in 1969.
